Bunk Bros Final Thoughts

Just a few final thoughts from the gang over here at Bunk Bros. It might be a brisk 16 degrees outside in this frigid January New York City evening, but the temperature in the Republican Party is a balmy 76! Ron Paul defied all the odds and singelhandedly smoked the three headed Bachmann-Gingrich-Perry monster. At least two of the aforementioned appear highly likely to withdraw from the race in the coming days. Another interesting final observation is the striking resemblance between Rick Santorum and television evangelist personality Joel Osteen. This galloping gang of buffoons has only been surpassed by the nonstop parade of schmucky yokels of yesteryear. It's been an evening for the ages here at Bunk Bros! Good night... and good luck

Bad News for the J-man...

Rick Perry just delivered a partially coherent, Hawkeye state, send-off speech which seemed to foreshadow the future of his candidacy. His candidacy has been dumpy, funky, frumpy, stumpy, and a little bit blumpy. That's no major shock. However, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, one of this blog's fav politicians, endorsed early on Perry while Perry was high on the hog in the early process of the nomination. That'll be another big, steamy, unforced error, plumply dropped on Jindal's career. Well, here's to Bobby Jindal. Jindy has some more work to do on his credibility based upon his Perry endorsement. One more big woops for the J-man.

Live Blogging: Jesse?!?!

Watching Sharpie make a complete blubbering fool of himself during MSNBC's coverage of the Iowa Caucuses, I can't help but yearn for the day's of Rev. Jesse Jackson. Remember when that guy threatened to cut Obama's nuts off?!?! Awesome.

Live Blogging with the MSNBC "Dream Team"!

We're live blogging from Bunk Bros headquarters! It's a lefty-progressives european wet dream with the who's who's of latte-sipping, belgian endive munching, saab drivers. O'Donnell. Maddow. Schultz. Sharpton.

In other news, the Republican voters of Iowa seem to be evenly divided between Romney, Santorum, and Ron "Repeals The Civil Rights Act!" Paul. It's worth noting that the last winner of the Iowa Caucus was evangelical-cum-talk show host Mike Huckabee.

Live blog: Its a tre-way!

There's a three way log jam at the top. Romney-Santorum-Paul, they are all currently holding 23% of the vote. It's gonna be a barn-burner tonight. Let's call the bag man.

Live-Blogging From The Bottom Bunk!

Tonight red-blooded Iowans will cast their choice to decide who will be the Republican nominee to take on President Obama in this November's election. Tax-cutting Iowans of all shapes, sizes, and levels of ignorance will brave the elements to decide between one fact-defying, logic-denying, planned parenthood defunding, medicare dismantling politician or another. Tonight, Iowans get to decide which one of their candidates stands the best chance of regaining the White House and finally driving this country's economy right off the cliff! And Bunk Bros will be there all along to watch in horror and disbelief as these exciting results trickle in! Will it be Mitt "Corporations are people!" Romney? Rick "I'd cut every agency in government if I only knew what they were" Perry? Michele "Obama = Hitler" Bachmann? Or will Newt "what a smart person sounds like to a stupid person" Gingrigh walk away with a come-from-behind W! The stage is set! So grab your 18th century colonial revolutionary war garb - it's time to Bunk Up!

Obama Caves!!!! (and other crap)

Nary a day goes by that the Huffington Post doesn't write some scathing article on President Obama "caving" to the GOP. In fact, a quick search of the site brings up 262,000 hits. Their's (and the general mainstream media's) latest sensationalization of an otherwise non-descript non-issue has been Obama's wish to conduct a joint session of congress in order to discuss job creation. Just so happens the time he requested was the same time the republicans had a televised debate scheduled to take place at the Reagan Library. Also just so happens that the parliamentary procedure required in order to collect both houses of congress takes several hours to conduct, and with members of congress returning from their summer vacations, logistically this would have been a challenge absent of any schedule conflicts. In fact, the letter which Speaker Boehner sent the President requesting he conduct his joint session the following day makes no mention of the republican debate, and does not come across to me as disrespectful in any way. While I'm no fan of Boehner or the republicans in general, this just smacks of full-on sensationalism, and further highlights my belief that the media, and the constant 24-hour news cycle, is making having any sort of reasonable dialogue in this country impossible.

It's also troubling to me, that just as supposed "liberal" websites are turning their guns on Obama, they are completely letting Republicans off the hook. My favorite argument is that if he were tougher he would get his way. As if somehow there is a magical elixir sidestepping legislative procedure, like toughness could magically produce "yes" votes from grown men (and woman) who describe themselves as TEABAGGERS!!!

Now this is not me trying to let Obama off the hook, he surely could be a more effective negotiator than to consistently give ground before gaining any concessions, but I've been noticing such a liberal demoralization.. understanding in light of the times, and websites like Huffpo seem to just be looking to strike dischord regardless of target, but you are hearing less and less about republican obstructionism and more and more about Obama being a weak leader. The overwhelming unison of this narrative would be fairly convincing if it weren't so suspiciously contrived.

Republicans have done nothing the past three years but obstruct this President. They have done nothing for the American people since taking over leadership of the house. They campaigned in '10 on jobs, yet haven't introduced a single jobs bill in this Congress. In fact they have killed no less than 10 jobs bills that Democrats have introduced. The narrative in this country right now should not be "Obama Caves". The narrative should be that Republicans are out to sink the country in order to sink Obama. It is as clear as the nose on plain's face, and the fact this still goes unreported even on so-called "liberal" websites makes me sick to my stomach.
